Alumni Kianah Gordon graduated in 2012 and then attended Texas Tech University. While in high school Gordon participated in band and Environmental Club.
What have you done after high school?
“I attended Texas Tech University and studied education,” Gordon said. “I began teaching the following school year after graduation.”
What made you want to do what you are doing now?
“Education has always been important to me and many of my high school teachers inspired me to teach because of their passion,” Gordon said.
What did you learn or experience in high school affect you in college and beyond?
I learned how to be a leader which has been helpful both in college and in my career,” Gordon said.
Explain your job now, what you are doing, different aspects of your job.
“I am a 6th grade Reading teacher in Temple ISD,” Gordon said. “This class gives students specific reading strategies to build them as readers.”
What are your plans for the future?
“My plan for the future is to earn my Masters in English and teach at a college or university,” Gordon said.
What is your advice to current high schoolers?
“Stay focused and finish strong,” Gordon said. “Life after high school will lead to many amazing opportunities if you believe in yourself.”
