Alumni Haley Parrish graduated in 2015 and currently attends Texas Tech University. While in high school they participated in cheer and track and field.
What have you done after high school?
“I am currently a junior enrolled in Texas Tech University majoring in public relations and planning to get my masters in mass communications,” Parrish said.
What made you want to do what you are doing now?
“I wanted to major in Public Relations because it is under the umbrella of Media & Communications college at Texas Tech,” Parrish said. “I knew that I was super outgoing and so I figured commutations was the best way for me to go. I am deciding to get my masters because it will open even more doors than just a bachelor degree. Plus, I could use a little more time to decide what I actually want to do with my life.”
What did you learn or experience in high school affect you in college and beyond?
“One huge thing I learned is that not studying in high school is not an option in college,” Parrish said. “Two very different educational worlds. I learned that who you are in high school will not affect who you are in college or how people see you. After high school you can be whoever you want to be because college is such a large spectrum of people. You will find your group and everyone will find people extremely similar to themselves.”
What is your advice to current high schoolers?
“Participate and be involved in everything you can,” Parrish said. “The stuff that is the most time consuming and requires the most effort will be the best memories that you hold the closest.”
