Alumnus Morgan Richie graduated in 2011 and went to the Aveda Institute. While in high school Richie worked on the yearbook staff and participated in art.
What have you done after high school?
“I went to the Aveda Institute – Dallas right after graduation,” Richie said. “I am now a licensed Esthetician. I am currently the Lead Esthetician for the Benefit Cosmetics Boutique in Dallas. I have previously worked for MAC Cosmetics and Urban Decay as well.”
What made you want to do what you are doing now?
“Surprisingly, because of a research paper that was assigned in my AP English class with Mrs. Shack,” Richie said. “I was going to go to art school in Kansas City, but when I explored the realm of cosmetics and skincare I fell in love.”
Explain your job now, what you are doing, different aspects of your job.
“As an Esthetician, I specialize in skincare and waxing,” Richie said. “In my current position, I oversee a team of Estheticians. I handle all of the training, and help maintain the productivity within my team. We offer full body waxing, full facial waxing/threading, lash/brow tinting, and custom airbrush tanning. I was recently nominated by my company to attend an immersive work retreat. They brought in therapists and team building coaches. We spent a week at a secluded Dude Ranch in Southwest Texas learning how to be better leaders and help our teams flourish.”
What are your plans for the future?
“I want to move into the corporate beauty world,” Richie said. “Hopefully, in a training position.”
What is your advice to current high schoolers?
“Don’t take what drama happens in high school so seriously,” Richie said. “Everything that ever happened to me during those 4 years doesn’t matter now. Don’t let people get you down, keep on doing your thing.”
