Alumni Kasey Viard graduated in 2012 and went to Texas Tech University. While in high school Viard participated in colorguard and ran long distance for track.
What have you done after high school?
“I attended Texas Tech where I was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, was Young life leader, and PR chair for The teacher association,” Viard said. “While in college I worked as a student assistant at the childhood research and development center. I got my degree in Early childhood education and am now a 2nd grade teacher at Newman International Academy Mansfield.”
What made you want to do what you are doing now?
“Senior year of high school I took community service and helped in a 3rd grade classroom and I fell in love with teaching,” Viard said.
Explain your job now, what you are doing, different aspects of your job.
“I’m a 2nd grade teacher,” Viard said. “I teach all subjects ELAR, Math, science and social studies.”
What are your plans for the future?
“Well I’m only 23 so I don’t know yet,” Viard said.
What is your advice to current high schoolers?
“Don’t dwell to much on what others think of you because in one year after graduation their opinions yet alone who had them,” Viard said.
