|What have you done after high school?
“After high school I went to Louisiana Tech and studied professional aviation and aviation management while doing my flight training,” Seekins said. “I got my Bachelor Degree in only two years. I was then a flight instructor for the university and later for a flight school in Denton, TX. After I obtained 1000 flight hours I joined Envoy Airlines (Formerly American Eagle Airlines) flying regional jets for American Airlines.”
“I have wanted to be a pilot since I knew what planes were,” Seekins said. “It’s always been a passion of mine and I love what I do every day.”
“I learned the value of hard work and good study habits from AP and dual credit classes,” Seekins said. “They definitely prepared me for college and airline training.”
“As an airline pilot I fly passengers and cargo all over the country,” Seekins said. “Right now at the regional level I typically go to smaller cities feeding the larger hub for mainline American Airlines.”
“I will be upgrading to captain here in the next couple months,” Seekins said. “After building more experience I hope to move over to mainline American flying larger airplanes and going all over the world.”
“Find something you love early and go after it,” Seekins said. “If you love it you’ll never work a day in your life. Getting into your career early will payoff immensely.”
