Alumnus Taylor Trammell, who is married and now goes by Avery, graduated in 2014 and went to TCC. While in high school, Trammell participated in journalism where she was the photo editor.
What have you done after high school?
“After high school I went to TCC and got an Associates degree in American Sign Language,” Trammell said.
Explain your job.
“I am now working at D.P. Morris Elementary School,” Trammell said. “I am doing the job I do, which is push in support to all grade levels (k-4) to help the kids who are lower or not understating what is being taught to be able to understand. I am severely dyslexic and was a kid who needed help so that made me want to help the kids who where like me. During the day at work I pull into different grade levels and do guided reading or W.I.N. time. I work with different groups of kids and help them understand different things better.”
What are your plans for the future?
“I plan to go back to school to become a certified teacher,” Trammell said.
What is your advice to current high schoolers?
“My advice for current high school students would be to follower there dream and don’t give up,” Trammell said. “High school is a hard time in your life and you can be faced with hard decisions. Some time your plans don’t work out the way you hoped and that’s okay just keep going and work hard. Don’t let simple things get you down and trust your gut on what you want to do.”
